Drinking water

Water is vital for all living things

Water is essential for the human body: it moistens the oxygen we breathe, regulates body temperature and helps the body to absorb nutrients. It also protects the vital organs, lubricates the joints and helps convert food into energy. Water is also required for the metabolism and digestive process.

You need to drink at least one and a half litres of water per day to stay hydrated, especially during spells of hot weather.

Never drink water from rivers or lakes. The most reliable sources of clean water are springs and streams. Do not even wash your hands near places where you see dead fish or animals in the water.
